How do organization credits and member quotas work?

An organization groups several Plot Party accounts under one owner so a team can share Plot Points, projects and permissions. This article explains how the shared balance works, how the owner limits what each member can spend, and where to track usage.

One balance for the whole team

• The organization owner holds the subscription, the Plot Points and any Boosters. Every generation a member runs is paid from the owner's balance, never from the member's own account.
• Points are still spent in the usual order: the batch closest to expiry first, then Booster points. See how plans work.
• Members do not need a paid plan of their own. If a member already has personal Plot Points, they stay in the member's account untouched while they are in the organization.
• Only the owner can upgrade the plan or buy Boosters. Members see Your plan is managed by your organization in the plan dialog.
• Each account can belong to one organization at a time.

Setting up an organization

1. Click your Plot Points balance to open the account menu and choose Organization. Creating an organization requires a paid plan, because the creator's balance becomes the team's balance.
2. Enter a name and click Create. You become the owner.
3. Copy the share link shown after creation and send it to your team. Anyone who opens it and clicks Request to Join appears as pending in Organization Management. Teammates can also choose Join in the same dialog and paste the organization ID.
4. Approve or reject requests under Member Management. Approved members can start generating with the shared balance right away.

The owner can promote members to admin. Admins can approve requests, set quotas, disable a member's login and remove members, but they cannot change roles or ownership.

Limiting a member with a credit quota

Without a quota, every member can spend the whole balance. To cap a member, open Organization Management, find them under Member Management and click Set quota.

• Credits per period is the maximum number of Plot Points the member can spend in one period.
• Period (hours) is how long a period lasts, from 1 hour up to 8,760 hours (one year). The presets are 24h, 7 days and 30 days.

Quotas are rolling windows, not calendar months. The first period starts the moment you save the quota. When it ends, the member's usage resets to zero and a new period of the same length starts automatically, with no action needed from you.

• Editing an existing quota keeps the current period and the points already used. The new limit and period length apply from the next generation.
• Turning Limit this member off removes the cap entirely and discards the current period.
• The owner cannot be given a quota. Admins can.
• Quotas are a soft control inside the team. The shared balance is still the hard limit: a member with 5,000 points of quota left can only spend what the organization actually has.

What a member sees

• The balance in the header is labelled with the organization's name, for example Acme Organization Credits, so it is clear the points are shared.
• A member with a quota sees My quota in the account menu instead of the organization total: points remaining in the current period, the limit, a progress bar and a countdown to the next reset.
• The number shown is always the lower of the two: remaining quota or the organization's remaining balance. If the shared balance drops below the member's quota, a notice explains that the organization balance is the limiting factor.
• Each generation shows its cost before you run it, so members can check whether it fits in their remaining quota.

When a member hits the limit

If a generation would exceed the member's remaining quota, it is stopped before it starts with the message You have reached your credit quota. Please wait for it to reset. The member can wait for the countdown to finish, or an owner or admin can raise the limit or shorten the period. Changes take effect on the next generation.

Generations that fail are refunded to the organization's balance, and the points are returned to the member's quota as long as the same period is still running.

Reviewing what the team spends

Open Organization Management and switch to Credit Records.

• Owners and admins see every member's generations, can filter by member and date range, and get a User Summary with the number of records and Plot Points spent per member.
• Regular members see only their own records in the same tab.
• The owner's Credit History in the account menu also lists the organization's spending, since all of it is charged to the owner's balance.

Leaving or removing members

• When a member is removed, the stories, canvases and studios they created inside the organization are transferred to the owner, and their access to shared resources is revoked. Their own account and its personal Plot Points are not affected.
• A member who leaves goes back to their personal plan and balance.
• The owner cannot leave the organization directly. Transfer ownership to another member first: the new owner's balance becomes the team's balance, and any quota they had as a member no longer applies.
