Nano Banana 2 vs GPT Image 2.5 vs Midjourney: 4K AI Image Test

A practical test plan for comparing Nano Banana 2, GPT Image 2.5 and Midjourney on character continuity, editing and final image quality.

Compare the Same Image Brief

Nano Banana 2, GPT Image 2.5 and Midjourney can play different roles in a story workflow. Use this controlled test plan to choose a tool for your assets. No generated outputs or scored 4K benchmark results are presented here; verify current export sizes on each model page.

Create a Reference Packet

Prepare a licensed character portrait, an outfit reference and a short setting description. Use only references that each selected mode accepts. Keep a record of the prompt, version, settings, output dimensions and total spend.

Review Without Hiding Failures

Save every attempt. Compare the images at the same displayed size first, then inspect hands, eyes, small text and edges at 100%. Record whether an output is native size or upscaled. A large file alone does not prove better detail.

For episodic work, repeat the winning portrait prompt with two new poses. Strong single-image styling is useful, but consistency across a sequence is the harder requirement.

Connect Key Art to Video

Use the chosen images as approved references for Seedance 2.5 or MiniMax H3. Preserve the original image files so later edits do not compound compression. Read the character consistency guide for the wider workflow.

FAQ

Should I always export at 4K?

Choose dimensions for the delivery format. Test at a smaller size first when possible, then inspect the final export rather than assuming more pixels fix identity or composition problems.
